Who We Are
The Community Coalition Against Mining Uranium (CCAMU) is a grassroots organization composed of concerned citizens from Eastern Ontario—spanning the Ottawa Valley, Kingston, and Peterborough areas. Together, we stand against uranium mining in the Frontenac and Lanark regions, striving to protect our communities and environment.
Our Mission
We are dedicated to preventing uranium exploration and mining in sensitive regions. Through sustained advocacy, public education, and collective action, we aim to preserve the ecological integrity, health, and heritage of our local landscapes.
What We Do
-
Citizen-Led Inquiry
We sponsor the Citizens’ Inquiry into the Impacts of the Uranium Cycle, a public initiative inviting voices from all perspectives to examine the effects of uranium mining on health, water, land, and communities. -
Public Engagement & Research
Our coalition serves as a platform for sharing research, raising awareness, and organizing regional forums where experts and residents alike can engage in open dialogue. -
Collaboration & Outreach
With active chapters in key communities, we support local involvement through workshops, presentations, and opportunities for civic participation.
Why It Matters
Uranium mining presents significant environmental, health, and social risks—especially in ecologically sensitive areas. Through informed decision-making and community dialogue, we aim to prevent potentially harmful industrial incursions into our region and advocate for policies that prioritize public safety and sustainability.
